About This Savings Calculator
What We Do
We built this savings calculator to help people understand how their money grows over time. Whether you are building an emergency fund, saving for a house deposit, planning for retirement, or simply curious about the effect of compound interest, our tool provides clear, accurate projections based on the inputs you provide. We offer four distinct calculation modes — Growth, Goal, Withdrawal, and Rate Comparison — each designed for a different savings question.
This is a free tool with no registration required. We do not sell financial products, provide personalised recommendations, or receive commissions from banks or financial institutions. Our revenue comes solely from non-intrusive advertising, and we are committed to keeping the calculator free and accessible to everyone.
Our Methodology
The calculator uses standard compound interest mathematics. For Growth mode, we calculate period-by-period growth based on your chosen compounding frequency (daily, monthly, quarterly, or annual), adding monthly contributions at the start of each month. The formula accounts for the timing of contributions within each compounding period.
Goal mode uses binary search to find the required monthly contribution that results in the target amount, given the same compound interest formula. Withdrawal mode simulates month-by-month withdrawals while continuing to apply interest on the remaining balance. Rate Comparison runs the Growth calculation three times with different rates for side-by-side comparison.
All calculations are deterministic and reproducible — the same inputs will always produce the same outputs. The calculator does not account for variable rates, tax, fees, inflation, or market fluctuations. Results should be treated as estimates and used for planning purposes only.
Interest Rates and Data Sources
The example interest rates shown in our calculator and content pages are illustrative only. They are based on publicly available rates from major UK banks and building societies at the time of writing but may not reflect current offerings. We update these periodically but cannot guarantee they match any specific product. Always check the latest rates directly with your bank, building society, or a comparison service.
Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this tool. All calculations happen entirely in your web browser — no inputs, results, or personal data are sent to or stored on our servers. Your saved calculator inputs are stored in your browser's local storage, which only you can access. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site (which pages are visited, how long sessions last) and Google AdSense to display advertisements. Both services may use cookies in accordance with your consent preferences. You can manage your privacy settings at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
